Front focusing with Tamron 17-50mm f2.8?

I recently bought a K20d with a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. After playing around with it for a few days, I noticed my images were coming out a bit soft.

My first suspicion was an issue with the focusing, so I ran a tests using the D70 focus chart. It is definitely front focusing.

The thing is, I don't know if it's the camera or the lens. I've noticed a number of people have had front focusing problems with the Tamron, so I'm inclined to conclude that it's the lens. However, since the Tamron's the only AF lens I have, I can't test it for consistency.

Is there any way I can find out for certain it's the lens?

There really isn't any way to tell for sure without access to a camera that is known to focus properly, or another auto focus lens that is known to be good. Since it is a K20, try using the focus adjustment menu. If the lens isn't so far out that it is beyond the adjustment range, you're fine.

Thanks for the reply.

I set AF adjustment as far as it would go, and it still focuses slightly to the front.

I'll probably head to the camera shop to replace it. I just wanted to be certain it was the lens before heading in.
