Near mint-looking FA*85 on its way from Japan.

The one I returned a while back was amazing, but I just wasn't prepared for the size in the pre-K-1 era. Now I'm used to the DFA15-30 and DFA*70-200 I consider it rather svelte

Congratulations Sandy! I genuinely don't think you'll have any regrets (apart from the hole in your pocket ) - on the K1 it balances beautifully, and the results are superb

The only other portrait lens that suits the K1 so well is the A*85/1.4 - A lens I owned twice and sold twice, telling myself I'm an AF only kinda guy - but guess what...

...I found another a few months ago and the ghost of LBA haunted me so badly I had to buy it - Kerrowdown will be proud of me

You've certainly gone up in my esteem...

Here's a few cross posted from my “Sweetheart” (Pentax-A* 85mm F1.4)

Images 1 and 4 are particularly amazing. If I can match that with my FA*85 I'll be well pleased.

.....
Very nice

Touché....

it's a flexible lens too - add an extension tube for lovely bokeh or use if for landscape with great detail

It records just so much detail, your second image is a fine example of that.

I'm sure it will and you'll have less lens bits to twist to make it all happen.

I would suggest going "retro" with a Super Tak 85/1.9 ... here are a few quick images on the (now gone) K-3 ... I need to run this ST 85 lens through its paces on the K-1 ... I also have an Auto Tak 85/1..8 which needs attention, too ...

For my needs, I could care less about WR, AF, f/1.4, etc. ... and with the price delta, I could buy A LOT of other goodies ...

I also have the 77, so there's a nice AF lens in the same focal range available ...

It's a fair assumption, I would have thought, Debakarma.

As Denis Norden used to say about TV and movies... " It'll be Alright on the Night".
