Weather sealing

I was reading up about LX and heard it mentioned that it was the first weather sealed SLR. There is even a video of a guy who simulated tropical rainforest conditions by putting an LX in the mud and spraying water on it for 24 hours... When I look at A primes though, none of them are weather sealed. That kind of doesn't make sense. Why build a weather sealed body if the lenses aren't? Or is WR as we know it today, different from the weather sealing on those lenses? Just wondering how careful I need to be with an LX in adverse weather conditions. Not that I ever shoot in the rain...

If you must ask.. Actually many takumars were weather sealed... those manual lenses as long as moisture don't get in between lens elements, you really can't do too much harm for those lenses. They don't have electronic parts, no electronic motors, nothing.......

LX as long as it sealed up the electronic part.. even the electronic fails, you are only going to lose metering and any shutter speed slower than 1/125.. so technically it won't entirely fail you.
