Filter holder for Pentax D-FA 15-30mm and the IRIX 15mm lens ?

Is there a filter holder that will both properly fit the new 15-30mm and the irix 15mm firefly ?

Thinking about an IRIX 15mm lens while I ponder the D-FA 15-30mm later and buying a filter holder that could accommodate both would be super as I could buy the holder and filters now. But is there one that works properly for both?

I remember seeing this thread @mee and there looks like a few suggestions that might fit your needs. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Yes I've been through that thread already and am aware of those companies. But what I'm not aware of is if anyone has definitively tested any one of those and confirmed one is swappable from the IRIX 15mm onto the Pentax 15-30mm without any extra adapters, rings, or gazonskis.

I'm also aware, for anyone playing at home , that the IRIX accepts 95mm round filters. But that is a waste to spend 100-200 bucks on a nice NDF that I'd only use on the irix. I'd rather kill 2 birds with 1 stone if possible and just buy a square 150mm system that works on a number of lenses without extras.

Actually.. it looks like the Haida Holder (haha) has both a device that attaches to the Pentax 15-30 (Tamron but same fit) AND a 95mm adapter ring. It is pricey. But I think that'll do it unless someone has a cheaper option (always welcome).

I have Haida and is a reliable piece of holder. It is big, but is connected with the size of the lens too. It is also more time consuming to install it compared with Cokin system and need to do it with the lens out of the camera.

The Haida holder works as my friend uses it, though I don't know if the part of the holder needs to be changed between lenses or can be shared.

I only have the Samyang 14 version of the holder.

Thanks guys.

Actually I have another question -- What about a 100mm holder? Would that fully support the 15-30 (esp considering the smaller filter sizes) or does that lens require 150mm?

From my 'research', it seems the Irix 15mm can use 100mm filters since it accepts a 95mm circular filter (and 100mm > 95mm at diameter). And those 100mm filters and holders are quite a bit cheaper (and tidier) than the 150mm jobbies.

Irix also accepts gel filters behind the lens, if you want a cost effective starting point.

I have the Lee SW150ii holder and the adaptor rings for a few sizes (82mm, 77mm & the 15-30 holder), I've just sold my 15-30 to give the Irix 15mm Blackstone a try and have bought the 95mm adapter ring as the Irix has a filter thread, will let you know how I get on!

The only downside I see to this holder is the size of the filters but they're needed to cover the front element of the wider lenses and it works great.
