Sigma AF 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC macro - Question

Hello, I have the opportunity to buy a used Sigma 17-70 (old model with variable aperture) at a good price, I tried it and left me some doubts..

I read around that the lens had a good sharpness wide open, but looking at the pictures they doesn't look so sharp to me ..

I ask who owns / has tried it: this is the actual quality that I can expect from this lens or is there something wrong? Thank you

P.S. pictures are all 100% crop, jpg straight out from the K3

This lens was my traveling work horse for years.
Had three of them , eventually sold one and replaced it with the newer 17-70 2.8-4.0 DC Macro HSM and the second one went to my niece with my retired K-5.
The third one is still with me, permanently on my other work horse K-30.
