No, not at all. Vignetting, sharpness, bokeh, AF are different. The F50 F1.7 is ubiquitous, but still one of the best bang for the buck on the whole Pentax lineup. I currently own it and the FA50 F1.4 and I generally I use the F1.7. I even used it more than the K50 F1.2 when I had that one. I didn't need F1.2 and at smaller apertures they compared well (except for bokeh where the F1.2 is special).
