Blind Test (Pentax D-Fa 50mm f2.8 vs Sigma Ex Dg 70mm F2.8 Macro)

Between focus calibrations last night i decided to test two macros on the K1, Sigma 70 macro vs Pentax D-Fa 50 macro....Which one comes on top?

shooting settings:
Lens X:
f2.8 1/5s: f3.5 1/0.3s: f4.0 1/0.4s: f5.6 1/0.8s

Lens Y:
f2.8 1/5s: f3.5 1/0.4s: f4.0 1/0.4s: f5.6 1/0.8s

Y lens @ F2.8 1/5s

X lens @ f2.8 1/5s

Y @ f3.5 1/0.3s

X @ f3.5 1/0.3s

Y @ f4.0 1/0.4s

X @ f4.0 1/0.4s

Y @ 5.6 1/0.8.s

X @ 5.6 1/0.8s

I like the Y lens best, but a large part of that is the contrast. Both look good, but Y has real bite to it, even wide open. I'm going with Y = Pentax

Interesting (though not entirely surprising) that the metering has produced different exposure results, with X consistently over-exposing compared to Y (or Y under-exposing compared to X, depending on how you look at it ).

X is a bit underexposed it seems, but more contrast. Also the OOF blur is much wider spread in X than in Y so I guess X is the 70mm Sigma which also has a bit of purple fringing that seems typical of sigma.

WARNING: X-lens at f/2.8 actually links to the f/5.6 picture.
On Flickr, the Y lens is much more contrasted WO, but also has more PF (see notch in the top of the paper).

Both seem stunning in terms of sharpness, but the Y obviously has more contrast. I'll go Y = Pentax just cuz.

Y appears to be slightly more contrasty and telephoto, which makes it look more crisp and sharper. So I assume it is the Sigma.
I've read very few negative reviews of the DFA 50mm, but I have read immense praise over the Sigma 70mm, so the Sigma is probably a hair better than the Pentax. That said, both look super sharp and I would be quite satisfied with either. Once you add PP to those photos they are both more than sharp enough

the settings were kept the same throughout the shoot

Lens X:
f2.8 1/5s: f3.5 1/0.3s: f4.0 1/0.4s: f5.6 1/0.8s

Lens Y:
f2.8 1/5s: f3.5 1/0.3s: f4.0 1/0.4s: f5.6 1/0.8s

The y has a narrower field of view than the x. Suggesting that the y is the sigma 70mm and the x is the Pentax 50mm.

I would disregard that in my analysis...

already did
set Y looks very familiar to me. The color, the contrast, the out of focus area, the tin purple flare at the top edge of the white paper, and I only have Pentax lenses.

I don't have the Pentax but love the Sigma 70. My totally baseless guess is Y=Sigma.
