I just joined the 500 club

I Ended up buying a Sigma 170-500 APO (Non DG) off of shop good will for a what seemed like a pretty good price! I am very excited for it and can't wait to get my hands on it to see what it can do!

Ok now to take my meds to assuage my LBA as I am out of money and the Wife is starting to take a seriously hard look at all the "stuff" I have in my photography cabinet.... Must resist urge to buy more!

Tsk, tsk, that was a major strategic error on your part - assembling all of your gear in a cabinet. Our successful LBA champions know that bits and pieces should be left strewn all around the house or apartment. On the other hand, it's difficult to conceal these larger lenses!

Enjoy your new lens, and let us see some early images!

Congrats, and welcome to '500' club Practice (a) your technique, (b) concealing skills - serious LBA cases require a lot of the latter!

P.S. Teleconverter. You definitely need a teleconverter

Luckily my 500 is a 500 prime with a screw mount. Not even sure of the manufacturer. My brother gave it to me years ago as a Christmas gift. Can't say I have found a need for it that much as it is too big just to walk around or hiking.

C.A.M. is right. You really need to diversify your storage options! Try this for a storage idea. It is designed for guns, but can easily be adapted for lenses and such. It fits between the studs in the wall quite neatly (I have one for its intended use).

I am liking to the storage suggestions... I may have to try some. For now I will carry on as I am still in the clear...... for now.

I thought I had a good solution to having multiple camera bodies I always bought black ones and only let my wife see no more than two at any one time. My oldest son gave me one day saying 'Mom did you know dad has 7 cameras" which she did not. Now to let her know about the lenses

What she doesn't know won't hurt you! And if she asks, figure out how many purses she has first! And yes, they are all for different purposes, like a lens!

Hey, you can't take a decent portrait with a purse (though opening purse strings does help!).
