In the following attachment, you see an image shot with a Zeiss 50/1.5 ZK reverse-mounted to a tele lens on K20D. This way you can look at what a lens is really capable of, not being limited by some arbitrary sensor resolution like that of today.

The green lines are 1.25 µm apart and still show high contrast. So, the lens is capable of at least 500 lp/mm resolution. tcom's Zeiss Makro-Planar 2/100 ZK will be similiar, I guess. The lens will show its full potential with forthcoming full frame sensors sporting several hundred MPixels ...

Very impressive combination of lens and sensor qualities in your floral examples, Dominique! Wonderful color and rendering of focused areas. I find the OOF areas mostly interesting, if slightly nervous looking in some places.

I'm glad to learn that you got Zeiss to listen to your expectations and that you now have what appears to be a very capable short tele prime to show off what your K20D can do!

Thank you Christine. The Zeiss seems indeed to be a very capable lens.

Here a few comparison shots Zeiss alone and Zeiss with 1.7x AF converter. I tried to move around and take the same photo with and without teleconverter to get something comparable:

Here a few more shots of the day:

Freddie Mercury Statue in Montreux

I tried to catch some bees with the Zeiss 100/2 and the 1.7x AF converter:

But the DOF is very narrow...

And a few vintage cars:

Tele-converter seems to steal some contrast, but the images are still very nice - wonderful straight from the lens. Now that you have both the VL and the ZK, what will you do?

A bit less contrast, but the impact is limited. The TC remains usable on the Zeiss if really needed to get closer, or extra working distance as on the bee shots.

As for both VL and ZK, I think I will keep both.
