Sports with the K20 FA80-320mm

Just a few shots from the other weekend.Im realy happy with the way the 80-320 performs on the k20d.Ive gotten some gr8 BIF pics and it seems t do alright with sports as well.Just thought id post these so ppl can see the older lenses do well on the new cameras.I m rely surprised how sharp some of the JPEGS are out of the camera,These had some pp but some shots i take are razor sharp straight out of the camera.Ive just got the 55-300mm its seems i need a bit of time to get used to it.Hopefully il start getting some good shots with it soon.So far im amazed how well the 80-320mm compares to the 55-300mm.Has anyone had to do a focus adjustment with the 55-300mm.I thought being a DA lens it should be ok with no focus adjustment but it seems i mite have to give it a try as im not getting the quality i was with the 80-320.Any opinions on that welcome.

Nice - bring back the bif! Oh - you're not talking about that sort of bif!

I've hardly used my 80-320 on my K20D, apart from a few "practice" shots. I may have to try it out. But then, over here, it been a very wet, gloomy winter, wettest in ages, so the f5.6 at the long end would be very limiting. Obviously okay in bright sunshine though.

BTW I did my first league game on Saturday, could only manage the first half though, as then the union club final was on. Haven't even had time to look at them yet!

Hi Arpe how r ya.The best results ive had for sports,footy was woth the k10d and the sigma 100-300mmDL.Havent tried the Sigma on the k20d yet but will soon.People were saying how the k20d would need the newer glass to get the best out out of it but from wht ive seen it brings out the best in the old lenses.Some of the Jpegs are as of good quality as the k10in raw.Heres a couple of birds with the k20 and the 80-320 jpegs with only cropping no pp.I tried the 55-300mm at a rugby union game on the weekend but wasnt to impressed with the results but it was my first time out with the lens maybe i have to do a focus adjustment but didnt think id have to.

nice action photos, what shutter speed were you using?
were your 55-300 static photos better than the action ones? seems like everyone has nice things to say about the lens

Ye the still shots with the 55-300m are excellent it doesnt sem to focus well with moving subjects.Ive only had it a week so i think im partially to blame hopin with a bit more use il gett better results.Il be checking the focus it made need adjustment.As for shutter speeds it varies with the light situation.I try to shoot round the 1/1250 mark with ISO low as possible.When i used the 55-300 the other day i was playing with the settings as well cause ive only had the camera a mnth so thats why it mite be my fault as well.Seems a bloody good lens just have to work out its limitations.But if it doesnt improve il be sending the camera and lens to pentax to make sure its ok. thnx

I'd be interested in seeing some comparison shots with the 80-320 and 55-300. If you had the 80-320, why buy the 55-300?

I bought the 55-300mm because ive seen so many gr8 images from it.I did hesitate because is was getting such good quality images with the 80-320 but i wanted a DA lens.Ive got a Sigma 17-70 im thinkin of selling so i can get a 16-45 then that will do me for my kit.Been flat out at work lately but ive got 3 days of nxt week so il be giving the camera and lens a good work out.If im not happy with the results il be sending the camera n lens to Pentax to have them checked out.
Any way hers a couple of shots from the union game i watched last week like i said not real good but i have too say i was playin with the settings alot just get used to the camera alot of shots were at ISO 1250 and i didnt relize i had the camera in bright mode i would have used natural my stuff up.Like to see a few of your pics and nice shots of the bikes posted.
