To further my education, I decided to photograph the same scene with different lenses and compare the result. In hindsight, I should have approached this a bit more scientifically. Using a tripod would ensure that all the compositions are the same. It was one of those days described as partly cloudy by the weather report. The sun disappeared and reappeared behind the clouds. I tweaked each image in Darktable until it looked its best, which is not very scientific. But where is the fun in being all scientific? Maybe next time.
Until then, here are my results. I have tried to get the best out of each lens. All of the pictures were taken at wide open plus one stop.
As a baseline, M 50mm f/1.4:
Next up, the M 100mm f/2.8 (a lens that I should use more, it lies in the bag most of the time).
This one was taken with an F 70-210mm f/4-f/5.6 at 103mm zoom.
