yes, hahaha someone check this out :P
it'd be interesting to see how this lens performs on Pentax especially compared to the Sigma

the best thing is that both will be available significantly < $1000

DP review has a comparison

if you look at their comparison, they say generally the Sigma is softer but better focus than the Tammy. however, closer examination is more revealing in optical quality, and i'm uncertain that it's really that much worse, only different. Check this out (just change one of the side-by-side screen to the Sigma for a nice comparison)

dpreview.com - Lens Review - Fullscreen

So what i see:

the Sigma 70-200 perform extremely well in the mid-region of the lens, handily beating out the Tammy around 100 - 135mm wide open. CA is also good compared to the Tammy

the tammy somehow win out at extreme ends of the lens 70f2.8 and 200f2.8. It also improves mid region when you close down the f stop.

i dunno.. maybe it's all measurebation but the details are rather surprising. Sigma is trumped on HSM focus, but that is not yet available for PK mount, although it's been announced

I have the sigma copy and like it a lot. Even at heavy a glass, the screw-drive focus is still mighty fast since the focus element is light, internal designed, and sit on the rear end of the lens. it's heavy, but that seems to be the penalty you have to pay for this size and quality of glass. I may get the DA* 50-135 later, but i still want to keep the Sigma for the FF camera that someday will come to affordable range (one should always hope)
