150-450 - I have it but now what do I do?

I just received my new 150-450 zoom from B&H but the owners manual was not in the box. I have emailed customer service. In the meantime how do you mount it to a tripod? Sounds silly (I did search) but I have a Manfrotto tripod head with the quick release (X-PRO 3-way). The lens has the tripod mount with two threaded holes in it. What do I need to pair the mount with the quick release?

Screw the QR place into the tripod foot....

Here's the owner's manual if you'd like to read it:

Mine didn't come with a manual either. There is not that much to it anyway. Just click on bertwert's link and you'll see. If you haven't already though, you could read some of the reviews here HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW Reviews - D FA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database and glean some additional tidbits as well.

Thanks...I just now found a thread asking the same question and after removing more cardboard in the box I found it.
Thank you

Hopefully, after getting it all locked down securely on your tripod, you will no longer be Shakey! Seriously, that is a great lens, having gotten great reviews. Congrats and enjoy!

now is the time to play and experiment

try it with a tripod

try it with a monopod

try it hand held

just try it.

you got the camera body, you got the lens, you got the memory

costs you nothing to try it, unlike the film days when you had to process the film to see the photos.

please post what you think is appropriate to the various threads here at the forum

enjoy

Hi Shakey. E-bay sell the RC-2 QR plates for Manfrotto heads quite cheaply. I also use Manfrotto heads and have a plate on everything I need mount quickly.

FWIW, I imagine that there are two threaded apertures on the tripod foot to accommodate differing camera body weights, thus hopefully allowing the tripod to support the lens / body combination somewhere near the point of balance.

I do the same - it amazes me the number of people who negate the entire usefulness of the Q/R setup by frantically swapping a single plate between cameras & lenses.

just fyi, those screws holding the foot mount to the lens body can work loose and introduce motion blur.
Accessed by pressing the knob and sliding off the foot(after unscrewing it to loosen).

I believe there are two screw holes on the tripod foot to use longer plates so it can't come undone by twisting.

Whatever you do,DO ZOOM IT IN/OUT VERY FAST. It will get jammed and will have to be sent in to be repaired.
