I have one and although it is definately a beautiful lens, I find that it is not the best focal length for me. If I could do it all over again, I think I would have purchased the 77ltd...

i have one and it does great for group photos and a great walk around focal length
very usable wide open and it sharpens up a tad and improves contrast when stopped down
the skin tones that are rendered look great as well as the overall colour and contrast
the build quality is the best part about the lens, all metal construction with smooth manual focus.

if you need something in a similar focal length with this speed but need to keep a budget, the FA35 is a good alternative

It only give you pointless pictures, with redicilous boké and colours like the picture you find below, so forget it...

OK. Photozone tests indicate the performance of the FA 35/2 are as good or better, and the cost is about 1/3.

Simply because it exists, you have to buy it. Period. It would be a shame not to own it

.

It's an awful lens, pass it by.

Seriously, though, if you're OK with MF, try out a Super Tak 35 or 28 as
an alternative.

Unfortunately the 31 Limited is no better on film, here is a pic with cheap Fuji film checking out my Pentax KX body.

It's really not very center sharp wide open:

(I think what we're doing is against the Geneva Convention)
