This may be true for the DA*200. But the DA*300/4 is a new design having one lens element less than the FA*300/4.5. The DA*300/4 and A*300/4 share the same number of lens elements and filter diameter, but the A*300/4 has one more group and is much shorter in physical length.

I dunno. I'm 66 and pretty inexperienced with MF but find myself going MF when shooting birds--especially when, with branches etc., the rig can't figure out what to focus on.
