Most exotic I have are an Oly Zuiko 50mm 1.4 grounded to fit K mount, 2 Vivitars Kobori zooms, and a Summilux 80 1.4..

The most exotic lenses I own right now are the several Takumar's , but I would not mind checking out the Zeiss and Voightlander copies before jumping on the K-1 band wagon. My camera is K-5 IIs which I love. I think I'm too old to be lugging around these new FF lenses.

Does the solid brass Lomography Daguerreotype Achromat count? That's my only third party lens at the moment.
I've had a handful of of old lenses in the past, but none would have classed as exotic.

Given their Asahi Optical Company heritage, these should surely be regarded as Pentax lenses, yes?

But when I want to get fancy I set the DSLR to a long exposure and use the lens's own leaf shutter to take the photo.
Thus effectively retrofitting your DSLR with a leaf shutter. Does the DSLR in question offer a push-open push-closed bulb mode? Push open, fire the Kodak shutter, push closed at leisure. And dare I ask about flash sync?

OK, now I get it.
The most exotic one is the smallest 135mm of all, the M42 Fujita f4.5.

P. Angenieux P1 90mm f/1.8

I have a mid 1950's Angenieux P1 90/1.8, M42 mount. Not sure whether it is classed as 'exotic' but it produces nice images.

Here's a sample image.

Why not ?
I have in the past tried Sigmas and others. I cannot stand controls that turn the wrong way. Too many times a shot is ruined because the aperture was opened instead of closed, the manual focus is too often sent to infinity instead of minimum.

Tried a 170-500 Sigma with the MZ-S in the 2000's and it wasn't as good as my M 400, plus all the control problems.

I don't have anything truly exotic. The closest might be the Arsat 35mm Fisheye for 645 mount, but it's not really exotic, it's not even rare.

That Angenieux is really nice.

Me? I was using a recently acquired minty Vivitar 28mm f2.0 Close Focus in K mount earlier today for flower photography.

Even wide open it is beautifully sharp and contrasty. I used a Pentax legacy 50mm round hood, no vignette on crop body. This lens is bokeh-licious, quite pronounced bokeh, not creamy but very striking and bold. Colours are very saturated, especially greens and you wouldn't dare to add saturation or vibrance in Lightroom.

I'll need to go on to the photography computer to post an image if anyone wants.

Also got an 'electric' Zeiss Sonnar 135mm f3.5 lately, also a superb lens with striking colour and absolutely scary resolution... I photographed my turntable with it at f11, flash on, and I could examine the diamond stylus tip for dirt!!! It has 1 metre/3 feet minimum focus distance, although I was further away than this. 😎

Also an SMC K24 f3.5 coming this week but that doesn't count but it is rare!

And a visit to LBA clinic.

"originating in or characteristic of a distant foreign country."

My previous post stands then as no lenses I know have ever been made in Ireland... Japan and the former DDR are/were exotic 😁

I don't have 'exotic' lenses in the same category of exotic-ness as some that have been mentioned, but I do have two unusual lenses.
- Auto Chinon 45mm f2.8 pancake lens - This one I really like
- Soligor C/D Dualfocus f3.5/28mm & f3.8/35mm MC - The idea behind this one is that it is two prime lenses in one and is not a zoom. You shift the lens and either shoot it at 28mm or 35mm. Serviceable, but modern zooms can do better.

Hmm...

I think my Sun Hi-Tele Zoom f4.8 85-210mm lens is the rarest/most exotic I currently own. It has a pistol trigger aperture stop-down. Although, T-mount isn't that exotic...

I wouldn't say any of my non-Pentax lenses is exotic. The least common is the Vivitar 28mm f/2.
