I think I've got yet another variant of the 28/2.8 Vivitar.. This one looks very similar to the "A24 "Vivitar / RL EDITION / 28MM 1:2.8 / MC / WIDE ANGLE / Ø49MM / 97xxxxxx" [Cosina?]"

Markings on it are Vivitar / 28MM 1:2.8 / MC / WIDE ANGLE / Ø49MM" Serial is on the aperture ring, PK-A/R-PK96113885 - It's an A (also possibly Ricoh P, it has the pin) and it works as an A on my KX. I'll get some pics up later. It's in very good shape.
Did I ever reply to you? If not, here is a belated response. This is the A21 on the list which has been found in at least two markings, and commonly Ricoh pin mount.

This one, however, seems unique - at least there doesn't appear to be anything like it on your Vivitar Bestiary.
That is now designated as follows:
T94 "Vivitar / 28MM 1:2.8 / No. 63xxx" [?mm]

Do you know the filter size? Amazing looking lens!

Great news everyone. A band new version of the Bestiary is online, with lens additions and extensive text. Better yet, I have a full lens database with photos! Yes, that's right...

Lens data and photos! Finally online!

Of course there are many gaps and some of the photos are rather lousy things I found where I could on the net. I long ago lost track of whose they are. In fact for eight months I had lost all the shots but found them just today on an old hard drive, making this project possible.

If everyone with one of these lenses could check out the info and see if you have a better shot, that would be great. Also, anyone who has sent me photos in the past, check to ensure that a) I am using your superior images and b) you are being credited as you wish. (You can be anonymous or use your real name, etc.)

I am sure that in the first week there will be lots of micro-changes and filling in of data. Contact me directly, PM, or use this thread.

Hope this helps everyone!

v2.08 is up today. I have added three more specification headings: "full focus range", "front element turns" (yes/no) and "aperture blades" (for how many).

I've shot new photos for two of the models I own.

I've also confirmed the size and weight of the ones I have. Plus, tested close focus, which removes a spuriously low value that was likely the result of someone measuring to the front of the lens and not the focal plane.

There are still a few things left to do, which will happen over the next day or two.

Very nice work there! I'm not in the market for a 28mm lens anymore, but if I were I'm your database would be of great help. Especially now that it got pictures.

Thanks!

Updated today to v2.09 with the big change being the missing A24 details have been recovered. A few more data points have been filled in and I added a References section on the main page.

I also discovered an explanation of "RL EDITION". It's exactly the same lens as without this notation, only Vivitar offered a 7-year warranty instead of the usual 5-year coverage.

Just received my package from e-bay, for a 100 dollars got myself;

2 x Asahi Pentax MV camera (1 for spare parts, not operational)
Vivitar 135 mm 1: 2,8 auto telephoto ø55 mm lens
Vivitar 28 mm 1: 2 auto wide-angle ø55 mm

smc Pentax-M 1: 2 50 mm
smc Pentax-M 1 : 1,7 50 mm
Vivitar automatic extension tube AT-22 36 mm
Vivitar automatic extension tube AT-22 20 mm
Vivitar automatic extension tube AT-22 12 mm
Tumax 118A flash (for the MV)
Sneider Kreuznach B+W colourfilter

All the lenses need some exterior cleaning but are optically fine, except for the 28mm which unfortunately has a rather large piece of dust inside.

I was primarily looking for the extension tubes (already own the pentax-m 1.7 and a pentax m 135mm, looking forward to comparing the pentax and vivitar 135mm) but the 28mm Vivitar further sparked my interest.

From the description it looks to be the K12 but I'm wondering about the mount. On the side of the lens it reads "lens made in japan P/K" but it isn't like my other K-mounts in that the metal strip next to the diaphragm actuator is much much longer then I'm used to seeing.

The question is what kind of mount is this and how to fit in on a k200d?

EDIT: Nevermind, another thread in this forum guided me to this page, so I removed the excess material and everything is working perfectly now. Luckily the piece of dust doesn't show on the pictures so i will leave it as it is.

I'll be joining this club soon after getting what looks like an A22 variant today. I was able to get both (A 50mm f1.7) for 165 shipped to my US address. I think I could have saved a couple of dollars but the lenses appear to be in great shape and I got a good feeling about the seller. And that is more important than saving a couple of dollars (and in reality not that many). It was also important to that I get one with A settings since I have a lot of learning to do and retaining all of the data will help. I'll get a chance to experience the stop down metering on whatever 100-135mm zoom prime I get though.

My auction - Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 for Pentax with "A" setting *Mint* - eBay (item 130442665453 end time Nov-05-10 16:32:43 PDT)

And a K03 (pretty sure) for 60 buy it now (incl shipping) - Pentax K bayonet mount VIVITAR 28mm f2.8 MC WIDE Angle - eBay (item 280583496043 end time Nov-08-10 17:08:54 PST)

Here's some extra pics of A01 and M13 that you can use, if you want.
I find it interesting that my M13 does have a differently structured focus ring rubber than the one on the pictures in the bestiary. Are there several M13 versions?
