I have both lenses, along with a 50mm 1.4 and a Raynox 250. I just spent a week in cottage country. I photographed landscapes and architecture with the 16-45, wildlife with the 55-300, portraits and indoor low light with the 50mm, insects with the Raynox and flowers with all of them. This combo performed extremely well. All are over-achievers for the money.
I highly recommend the FA 50mm f/1.4 and the Raynox 250 for you next. Your existing kit is very competent. The 50mm and Raynox will allow photographic possibilities that you don't have now, and the value is unbeatable. The Raynox mounted on a 55-300mm gives you anywhere from 1:2 right up to 2.7:1 macro for only $60. The 50mm gives you superb quality, world-class portrait capability and is faster than any zoom, all for a paltry $200. And neither lens duplicates anything you have in your existing kit.
