I think it still depends on the luck of the draw, but in any case the dock helps alleviate the issue. You could also get a lens that doesn't need any adjustments at all.
IMO, the best thing to do would be to buy the lens and exchange it if it has severe focusing issues, then apply fine adjustments to make things perfect.
