Vignetting at 40mm for my HD20-40mm lens normal?

I have a question about my Pentax HD 20-40mm lens. I used it during my last winter trip. After analysing my photos at home, i realised that almost all my photos show quite a lot of vignetting at 40mm. I attached a photo here to show an example. Is this normal for this lens or does my particular lens have problems? It was shot with a K5 II at 40mm and f7.1 and ISO200. Thanks.

The reviewers for the detailed review on this site found similar vignette with the HD DA 20-40.

It was their conclusion that it was typical for the lens and directly traceable to an image circle that is barely adequate for the APS-C format.

Yes, that's normal at 40mm. See the following section of LensTip's review:

Yep! Normal, as far as I can tell from my thousands of pictures with that lens so far. It's worse wide open, and gets better when you stop down. I found that the vignetting was easily cleaned up in post.
