ROFLMAO. Apart from size, weight, flare resistance, cost, etc. This thread has descended to new depths of ridiculousness.

Well there we go: the definitive statement. What would the rest of us know? End thread.

the question of which hood to get begins
Original hood: Pentax hood 49mm for 28mm, 35mm | eBay or Asahi Pentax 49mm Lens Hood / Shade for Takumar 28mm f3.5 #40442

Of course there are plenty of very cheap hoods for wide angle with 49mm filter thread on ebay.

Thanks once again for the helpful guidance. I have bought an F-28/2.8 from a chap on the marketplace.
Sounds like a good choice!
I got a square clip on hood for my M 28mm. It was a knockoff of the original, I think made by JJC. But it was bit flimsy and I broke it after a couple.. months, years. It was mostly my fault for not being more careful with it, but it was not as sturdy as some other hoods I've seen (like the genuine hood of the DA 21mm, DFA 100mm..). It looked a lot like the one in the link above, but it was cheaper and I dont think it said Takumar on it (actually, I think it was like this one, but i found one online for a little less money)
Some people even use step down rings as a hood, just have to be careful that it isn't too small (that could actually limit the aperture)

Please, if you are able to compare the starburst effect from both lenses, be sure to share it here. The F28 might be one of the few lenses able to compare with the DA15 and DA21 in this regard.

This hood works great on the crop sensor like the K-3II, but I don't have a K-1 to test full frame:

Gah! If this is true, I might be selling a Kiron 28 f2 at some point, and shopping for an F28.

I was surprised at the difference going to FF and I am pretty sure those ones are too tight.

Thats a good idea - even better smash the glass out of a couple of old UV filters and stack them. A big advantage of that would be you can fit a lenscap without removing them unlike square and petal hoods. That is why I have all my longer lenses with cheap offmarket round metal hoods - they are designed to take a 58mm lens cap.

I have both lens hoods in 55mm. Now it's very late, but I'll make comparison pics tomorrow.

Trouble is the adapters are going to make it worse for vignetting. When you do it record the height the hood stands with and without the adapter on and also the diameter of the big end (what size cap it will take) to give us some idea.
for instance the ones I have bought from china that look just like this https://www.gumptrade.com/14140008201.html (probably from the same factory) are 24mm high and take a 58mm lens cap.

I'd like to throw out a little more info about hoods..

Vented hoods are for rangefinders, so they don't block the view. You don't really need the vents on a DSLR, and the vents make it suboptimal (and they usually cost extra).
I would also avoid metal hoods, as metal can be shiny and it is too strong. If you drop the lens and it falls on the hood, it is better the hood cracks than if the hood transfers all the impact and damages the filter threads on the lens. This goes for drop impact or any other impact, hit. Maybe its not a big problem, but its something I would consider

I have a plastic 49mm thread petal shaped hood (made by Sensei I think) which works perfectly with the F28 on full frame. It even has a little ridge inside which nicely fits the lens hood.

The plastic threads are a bit soft though, so some care is needed to avoid crossing and stripping.
