I am also trying to learn macro and am shooting hand held with a SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro I got from another forum member.

I cannot compare it to the others you have mentioned but I like it for macro as well as non macro photos

I trust you have looked at the info available under the " Lenses " section above ??

I have the Tamron 90 and I can recommend it without hesitation.

I would dearly love to go the Pentax route (especially if it has WR), but I can't afford it at the moment.

perhaps you will get lucky, I was, I found my used non WR 100 Macro here at a reasonable price

[ don't tell the seller I said that. ]
