which is the best 50mm k mount lens?

This question been doing rounds on my mind for a while. Pentax has made a lot of 50mm primes, even Zeiss has had a crack at it. So which according to you, is the finest 50mm prime in K mount.

This is such an impossible question to answer. It makes an assumption that all 50mm k-mount (and maybe m42?) lenses have the same purpose in mind when they were created. It ignores something like excellent macro vs. excellent portraiture and what design aspects are desirable with one and not the other, for instance. Or weight and cost implications.

What are you asking the question for, what are you hoping to find here, what is the lens purpose that you're trying to find a good answer for? Here's some examples with some answers that might work for you; "I am looking for a good all-arounder 50-ish mm prime that is excellent in low light" and one answer might be "F or FA50 1.7". Or "I want a nice macro 50 with some good 3D effect to the images I take" and the answer could be "M 50 Macro". Or "a 50mm that delivers quality to cost ratios that are off the chart" and the DA50 f1.8 is your guy.

So, then, what are you trying to find out here?

Industar 50-2 f3.5
I'm not saying its sharp or fast or even well-built, though.

I think that you will get a lot of answers. It will depends upon what you shoot and upon your skills.

IMHO, the best 50 mm lens is the Voigtlander Nokton 58 mm f1.4, based upon my own experience, style and shots. The VL58mm is a very sturdy lens, with outstanding IQ. It is MF, with a superb focus ring. I love the colours and sharpness. And it is fast.

My 5 cents.

Hmmm... I like the M 50 1.7, but then I really like the K 55 also...

Don't know if I could live with just one 50... Maybe four or five different ones.

It's M39 or M42...which is just an adapter away

My M42 nomination would be an S-M-C Takumar 50/1.4.

Actually K-mount....hmm... kind of a tossup between my Sears (Chinon) 50/1.7, and Pentax-M 50/1.7

Who knows... maybe I win the lottery.. or not.

Fa 50/1.4 and Helios 44-2 plus A50/1.7 (seldom used) for me serve the purpose. I might be happy with just 50/2.8 macro.. I usually don´t use apertures bigger than 2.8 with K-1..

The best 50? What ever rocks your boat. They´re all good.

Your Sears is probably a Rikenon, not a Cosina. The older ones were Chinon.

I haven't had a lot of 50s but the Rikenon P 50 1.4 is my baby. The M 50 1.7 is pretty close. Frankly, I haven't seen a bad 50 yet.

What is a Sears (Cosina)? The Auto Sears MC 50mm F/1.7 was made by Chinon. The other Sears 50/1.7 was a Ricoh.
