Have never owned it

Have wanted it/thought about it

Now will wait in hopes that the new D FA 85/1.4 is not too distant (and I have other LBA quests to hopefully keep me focused elsewhere until that happens....)

Own it. Love it. Bought it 2 years ago in anticipation of the K-1. Like it on the K-3 as well. Took one of my favorite candid portraits of my youngest great-grandaughter with it on the K-1.

Own the Pentax-FA 85mm f 1.4

I own a mint copy of this magnificent lens. It is pretty much the gold standard for Pentax portraiture, but given the price, it is easy to justify using the FA77, the Rokinon/Samsang 85mm 1.4, or lots of other lenses in focal lengths appropriate to camera format and framing objectives. To me the 77 provides excellent results with its own special flavor, while the 85 1.4 offers greater neutral excellence--does that make sense?

I have owed it twice and still use it with the K-1 today. Probably the sharpest lens every made. IMHO is better than the new Sigma 85mm f1.4 Art Lens. Alyssa M | Eyes | D L Photographics | Flickr

Based off the images I have seen taken with the Sigma I would have to agree with that assessment.

I am curious how many of you:

1. Own this lens;
2. Owned it once but not now;
3. Have thought about getting it;
4. Would like it but cannot justify the cost;
5. Have no interest even if you can afford it.

Thanks for your comments.
Owned this lens since 2004. Used it on film bodies until 2009, then digital (K-7 and K-3).
It is my favorite lens. I use it almost exclusively for portraiture.
There are occasional times when I need f1.4 and use it for the extra reach over the 50mm/55mm f1.4 lens.
It can give a tiny bit of purple fringing in high-contrast areas, but this is trivial to fix.
I am intrigued by what the D-FA* 85mm/f1.4 might be like compared to the FA*.
I have not tried the FA77 LTD.

I'm in the same boat and love my A*85/1.4. I could not justify buying a FA* version and spending $300-400 more for AF that I'll never use, as well as more plastic bits & the infamous scratch-able silver finish.

The A*85 is built like a tank, so I'm a happy camper.

Phil.
+1 for the A* 85.

1. I do not own the FA* 85.
2. I have not owned it.
3. For 85mm, I thought about the A* first and ended-up getting that.
4/5. Now that I have the A*, I have not really given much thought to the FA*. The A* meets all my needs in the 85mm department.
