Heck, can I get the 150-450 for $2000?! That would be a very tempting price...

Depends what your needs are. Some 135mm and 300mm lenses are really stunning, but I dont use those focal lengths to justify more than a cheap old lens.
For $2000 I would get a bunch of normal to ultra wide primes. Currently Im really interested in the third party stuff like Laowa and Irix. And the FA limiteds sounds great too
Also, Id get a nice custom lens from DCshooter
I think the irix lenses look great. I don't know how they perform. Maybe some one here could enlighten us with some pictures.

I have the FA 31, FA 77, DA* 55 on my list, but I never found a good used copy with affordable price, so I would get these.
Those FA lenses look tempting. But if you were to spend 2000$ on a single lens what would it be?

After adding shipping to Europe, handling and taxes it won't be $2000 anymore! It might actually be cheaper to fly over and pick up the lens

Seriously, though, size and weight are bigger concerns than price. I would rather spend that kind of money on something that will see more use than a big&beautiful lens on the shelf.

$2k and I just buy lenses? Okay, here goes;
24mm Sigma Super-Wide II AF - for walk-about / street carry, nice size, good IQ, $300 for a perfect example.
70mm Pentax DA70 - great size, IQ, for portraits, $475 or so new
28-75 Tamron f2.8 - zoom that does portraits, seems good all around, $340 new
15mm Pentax DA15 SMC - I already have one, wouldn't be without it, $350 used
50mm Pentax DA50 - Everyone needs a fast 50, $120
18-135 Pentax DA - WR, good zoom range, good performance, nice to pair with the DA15 for a two lens kit that covers a lot of bases, $400.

Ok.

Let’s consider this extreme unlikely situation:

1 - one as no other pentax lenses - or having none of the ones I’m choosing in this situation;
2 - one as one pentax digital camera – any will do, but not the K1;
3 - one is a normal “personal” buyer - more about this when I would do my second simulation.

2.000 USD are today around 1.730 euros (1,555 change rate), and I will use this coin (euros) because is the one we use in my country.
Also the prices are from a national shop who can import the lenses I propose.

I would buy:

1 - tamron 28-75 f/2.8 = 499 euros
2 - tamron 70-200 f2.8 = 669 euros
Total = 1.168 euros

Next I would pocket the remaining - 562 euros (around 649 USD) - and would begun to save for the K1 (or the next full frame from pentax if the step up in the new model was worthwhile); the money needed to be saved would be at today’s prices 1.437 euros (1.999 for the K1 less the 562 euros saved).

In the mean time I would use (and test) the two lenses with the camera I would have already until comfortable doing so.

Situation re-analyzed on the bases of what I say in step 3 above:

Considering one is the owner of a company (or could buy via one), he / she can get back, in my country, the transaction tax (IVA) from each purchase - here it's 23%.

The numbers are then

1 - tamron 28-75 f/2.8 = 406 euros
2 - tamron 70-200 f2.8 = 544 euros
Total = 950 euros

Remaining pocketed 780 euros and one would just need to save 845 euros for the K1 as the camera would cost 1.625 euros (1.999 euros - 23%).

Best regards,

Find out the export duty for photographic equipments I eu. I think you should purchase during Halloween or Easter. They give discounts and also ship for free. Who knows you might have to even less than 2000$. Or you can go to eBay find a good Japanese seller make him declare a low value for the item and get away with customs. Lol
