Originally posted by Na Horuk If you bought f1.2 lens, you should use it at f1.2. You can get DA 50mm f1.8 super cheap, even DFA 50mm f2.8 is affordable and they are both great between f2.8 and f8. Only reason to buy f1.2 lens is if you will use it often with very wide aperture
I don't have that lens, but it is very special! Good luck!
I personally think that it would be sort of cool if it were reasonably good stopped down. After all, it and most other f1.2 50s were sold as normal lenses and were often bundled with cameras for general photography.* I just did a little walk on eBay and was astounded at current pricing for off-brand f/1.2 lenses. As recent as 2010 Porst, Revuenon, and Cosina f/1.2 50s were selling in the $125-$200 USD range. The prices are now twice that and selling for as much or more than the highly regarded Pentax-K 50/1.2...go figure...

* I took a gander at some of the example photos included with reviews on this site and performance stopped down is decent. Several years ago I took a short turn with the Porst 55/1.2 and while I was wowed by the dreamy look and build quality, I was put off by the bulk and weight. Each to his own, eh?
