Hi fellow forum members

I have a question regarding this lens. I just got mine a couple of days ago and the build quality is ok to me. The reason I only give it an ok is that I was under the impression that this lens was all metal on the barrel. I do not think that this is true, when the lens is extended on the zoom the barrel seems to be plastic. Overall I would say it is close to my Canon 24-105 L -- but maybe I was expecting too much. Also I am interested in acquiring the 50-135 f2.8 -- is this lens the same construction as the 16-50? or is it better built?? Any comments from experienced Pentaxians would be appreciated

it is the Limited Lenses that have the all metal barrel

Construction is the same on the DA*50-135, but it's internal zooming. Personally, I don't mind the plastic/composite/whatever. It seems solid to me, and the body probably handles heat/expansion better than metal.

However, I used to have a 77Ltd and it was really sweet, especially how it felt. I finally sold it, though, since I was using the DA*50-135 lots more.

thank you for the info --- I do have the DA 70mm Limited and it is sweet, and for some reason I thought that the DA* series was also all metal --- oh well live and learn --- it is still a very well built lens
