Like new Super Macro Tak!

I posted here a couple of weeks ago asking for some help IDing some accessories with a lens I was looking at buying.

Well, it arrived and it looks like it's one of the few times taking a punt on Gumtree (Australian equivalent of Craigslist) has paid off. The seller described it as 'unused' and I think they might have actually been telling the truth...

Original box, original polystyrene insert, strap unopened and its original plastic sleeve (still stapled shut...), original conversion tables, hard case immaculate without any cracking or a whiff of mould, lens itself absolutely mint (ironically, I think I'll have to get it serviced to free up the focus and aperture mechanisms - half a century in a box isn't without its drawbacks...)

For someone born firmly into the digital generation, I suspect this is the closest I'll ever come to being able to buy a 'new' Takumar

Enjoy some unashamed lens p0rn

That's as mint as mint can get for a lens. 👍

Beautiful! Love the beige computer punch card next to the white s/n card.

I used to work with punch cards back in the late 1970's, at a company with an IBM mainframe data centre. Not fun if you dropped a box of punch cards, as they had to be kept in order!

M42 , no auto aperture !

Ok on lower aperture settings , but higher F-stop becomes a pain .. If you wanted one , well scored .. ( Lens collecting )
Old lenses are getting more scarce , especially good clean ones ..
There will always be moldy old junk available - but good clean mint lenses - getting rare !

Okay, but the real question is how pretty of a penny did you have to let go to get such a museum piece?

I bought one of these lenses as a Summer walkaround lens for my Spottie F. It's absolutely great. For casual shooting in bright light you generally don't use the wider apertures much unless you're a fan of slow emulsions, and the ability to get up close and personal to an aesthetically pleasing flower or slow-moving garden life (slugs, snails, etc) without having to reach for bellows, tubes and the like is a HUGE bonus.

Wow looks like NOS or just genuinely bought and never used. Unfortunately you may be right about the service in this case, although if it's been kept away from moisture and anything else harmful it may just need some movement to free it up.

Yeah there isn't any sign (visible or smell) of fungus in the lens, hard case or cardboard box, so it looks like it has been kept away from moisture. I suspect the lubricants have just gummed up a bit...

$100aud ($80usd) - seemed reasonable
