The only lenses I've actually heard people say they bought into Pentax for are the DA*60-250 and 31 and 77 limiteds. But I don't know that many people.

THX to PENTAX/Ricoh-Imaging
I could not agree more. It's outstanding glass that handles a multitude of shooting situations with aplomb.

I got to agree with the Limited series both FA and DA. I can not think of any one now a day doing compact, high guilty glasses, beatify metal barrel design, auto focus lenses .... at average consumer price.
Think about this and I still wish Pentax turn them into WR lenses!

Lenses that set Pentax apart

In medium format, I would suggest the Pentax-D FA 35mm f 3.5 and the Pentax-FA 645 120mm f 4.0 macro.

Well . . . any medium format lens would set Pentax apart from Canon and Nikon, but these two particularly.

---------- Post added 08-24-17 at 08:06 PM ----------

For K-3 crop sensor and for K-1 full frame formats, the one lens that should well cause people to switch to Pentax is the incomparable lens, the one my wife calls our magic lens . . .

the incomparable Pentax-FA 77mm f 1.8 limited

Yep, agree, really love my DFA 100/2.8 WR, and when traveling light with the K1, and I only want two, I grab it and an FA43 Limited. Another great lens.

DA15 limited, DA21 limited, DA20-40 limited, DA35 macro limited, DA40 limited, DA70 limited
FA31 limited, FA43 limited, FA77 limited, DFA100 macro (unlimited)
All unique. Not necessarily better (whatever that means) but certainly special.

I'm going to put the DA*300 out there too. It's just an astonishing piece of glass.

The two DA35/2.4 and DA50/1.8 plastic fantastics are among the best budget lenses ever made.

Then there's the new DFA28-105. Is there a better "kit lens" for any other system?

I met a hardcore Nikon owner the other day, shooting with his D500 and 400mm f5.6.

He saw me and confessed he bought a KP with all the Limited primes, even though he hasn't shot Pentax in the past, because they're all so small and beautiful.

And remember, unlike CaNikon, all these primes end up image stabilized.

not to mention quite a few unique focal lengths, if we're talking uniqueness
You mean I can't get a 31, 43 or 77 prime if I switch to Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Sony, Panasonic or Olympus?

Might have to stay with Pentax.

Count me in on this! DFA 100 Macro WR is one outstanding lens> While I am at it, I would add the DA 21 and DA 40 Limiteds.

HD DA70/2.8 2.4 Limited is an exceptional lens. Right there with the 31 and 77.

Another good one, the newer WR 100mm f2.8 macro. I don't have it, I like my FA100 too much, but if they release a version with the new motorized focus as well as the WR standard, I may just have to write Santa a letter... There are a few macros in this range, but WR tips the scale for the price point.
It's size is also a major selling point, it's just tiny compared to the Canon and Nikon 100mm macros I've seen. If Pentax brought their 200mm macro out of retirement, I don't think anyone else could match their 1:1 macro lineup.

I had one which was f/2.4, so it must have been even better

The FA43 is such a special combination that Leica, the home of high value primes, got Pentax to make 2000 of them for its M39 mount.

Corrected. I guess I have too many lenses to remember the names.

I wish you hadn't posted that...

My wife will NOT be happy if a lens comes to the house before the flooring contractor.
