Monochrome has a wonderful collection of lenses (including an A* 135, IIRC), so his grave is going to be pillaged more than King Tutankhamen's tomb.

Mind you, it will carry an ancient curse - any camera one of his lenses is mounted on will instantly have aperture block failure.

My sister-in-law is an Assyriologist (ancient near east, generally). She has agreed to curse my tomb in Akkadian, Sumerian and a number of other ancient Mesopotamian languages. In return I have taught her the modern Pentax lens hieroglyphs nomenclature. .

I would like to have had the F* version because of the foot, but hard to find. Same optics, so I wound up these last 10 years with the FA* in perfect condition- left over stock, display-case model, from a small dealer going into retirement. He sold the usual brands, and included Pentax. I am delighted with this lens! I am interested in the aftermarket tripod foot.

For some unknowable reason, Pentax discontinued this lens, which was made for film cameras, after they began making DSLR cameras and discontinued film bodies, but did not replace it with the DA* 300mm until years later!

Very sharp, and as already said, AF is amazingly fast and accurate. Quick-Shift MF touchup is totally unneeded, because you can instantly switch back and forth from AF to MF just by pulling backward or forward on the focusing collar where you hold the lens! MF operation on my model is excellent.
