Best way/place to sell lenses

I want to sell a few of my DA lenses to help budget for new FF lenses. I have never sold on line. I know the Marketplace exists on this site, but are there any other sites you suggest?

eBay is the easiest. Fredmiranda and dpreview have classified sections, too.

The marketplace here is the best place. You'll get a good transaction and a fair price. Otherwise, eBay or some local site like Kijiji or Craigslist depending on where you live.

I've sold all of my camera stuff on the marketplace over the past many years, even non Pentax gear. If you're on the buying front, though, eBay has a lot of interesting things listed.

For Pentax stuff, here is the best place.
For Non-Pentax, I have had good luck at fredmiranda.com, however they do require a donation (like here), to list items.

Be aware that the marketplace here only really makes sense if you are selling a small amount of gear (less than 15 pieces, regardless of value). If you go over the limit one time in a calendar year, you are required to buy a commercial subscription in perpetuity thereafter, which really only makes sense if you have tons of stuff to sell, since it's a $15/month on-going subscription fee to sell anything, and you are permanently classed as a reseller even if you only have one or two items listed or haven't listed items in years. It makes sense if you are selling a ton and saving on eBay final value fees, but there's unfortunately no sensible middle ground if you just want to sell a moderate amount of gear, since you are apt to sell items way more easily on eBay.

Be aware also, the PF Marketplace is definitely a buyers market. Buyers here tend to be skinflints and will want to dicker the price down 9 times out of 10, even for listings well below the going rate. Completely disagree with those saying you are more likely to get a fair price here. eBay Buy it Now sales will typically get you significantly more money for your gear, but then you have the headache of dealing with their bureaucracy and large number of scammers, so that's something to be weighed, too. In other photo forums (fredmiranda, dpreview, APUG, etc.), users tend to be more willing to pay fair prices, probably because they are conditioned by the more active Sony/Nikon/Canon and classic gear scenes, but they are typically more interested in vintage Pentax gear than in DA era stuff.

I've been on ebay for 18 years, and have bought and sold many, many items. one advantage to using ebay is that your potential market is incredibly large. I've sold gear to folks all around the world, and have purchased from all around the world. but at the same time, competition can be higher (there are 31 DA 21mms on ebay right now, and 85 DA40s), which can drive prices down. You can research similar items that have sold to see how much to expect from your sales. You can choose to sell via auction, or set your price by using "Buy It Now" (you can also accept best offers). Each listing includes 12 free photos of your item. Unless you are generous enough to offer free shipping (I only do this for very high priced items), the buyer pays for shipping. Ebay does take a small percentage of your final sale price. I believe you must set up a PayPal account in order to sell. I would highly recommend that anyway, as it makes it very easy for buyers to pay for the items, and I find that the easier it is for people to buy, the more likely they are to. International buyers must use ebay's Global Shipping Program - all you do is ship to the distribution center in Kentucky, and they ship the package internationally for you. Lately, I've been using USPS Flat Rate Boxes to send my sales out. If you purchase your postage through ebay, you get a discount on the rates. you may get more money selling here in the Marketplace, but I have no experience with that, so others will have to fill you in on that.

Post on both PF market place & Ebay at the same time it doesn't cost anything to list only when you sell something e.g. paypal & ebay fees. I've sold more on Ebay by far all over the world in my limited experience than Market Place. Be fair price and shipping wise and give a very detailed description and as many photos (GOOD) as possible. Nothing worse than using the enlargement capabilities on Ebay and looking at a grossly out of focus picture! If the shipping isn't too expensive build it into the Base Price. If you can flex on price give a "Or Best Offer" option. You can always turn down the Dumpster Divers if they Low Ball you. Good Luck.
