not duct tape - gaffer tape is a completely different item; duct tape will leave sticky residue and is not meant to be used temporarily at all...

Alternatively, use some thin 2mm or 3mm foam sheet used for a black foamy thing and wrap a cylinder round the outside (or maybe even inside) of your hood and tape over the foam only such that it's able to slide back if you need a window.
