Pentax-D FA 24-70 2.8 back focus issues

I'm having rather severe back focus issues with my Pentax-D FA 24-70 2.8 on my K-1. I've used the LensAlign MKII calibration tool to assess the issue and try to adjust focus using the AF adjustment menu selection (C menu, 4th page). But, I've adjusted the lens to the maximum and it's still rather badly back focussed. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I tried other lenses with the calibration tool and they tested out to be fine.

Any suggestions on what to do? Send the lens back for testing and repair?

Thanks,
Matt

I believe others have had the best result sending in both lens and camera together so they can be calibrated as a unit.

Back focusing issues

If your lens is still under warranty, I would recommend that you send your lens in for authorized service, along with the camera body that it will be used with. That way, the technicians can check both items to ensure the best set-up for your lens.

I have done this with a DA* 16-50 lens sent to the Canadian authorized repair depot and they set everything up for free under warranty.

I would also recommend that if you are adjusting any lens yourself, do so as a custom adjustment to that lens only, not a general adjustment.

Just send the lens back for a replacement if you can. To me it's outside the micro adjustable limit, out of spec. I sent mine back and Happy I did.
