This LBA thing is gonna be the end of me...

I just had my September 1st buying ban lifted a week early. So what do I do? Immediately head to Marketplace to do some "browsing". 10 minutes later I struck a deal on a Sigma 24-60/F2.8 zoom. I've been coveting that lens for a while. I was in need of some fast, constant aperture zooms and it was at the top of my list. Tthe price was right so I grabbed it. My next move was going to entail selling off some stuff, adding some $$$, and picking up a DA*50-135.

That was until this happened: Pentax smc P-DA 14mm f/2.8 Lens - eBay (item 190246757449 end time Aug-25-08 09:05:31 PDT)

I was looking at this lens because I'm about to sell my Sigma 17-70 and knew I would miss the wide end. The Sigma 10-20 and DA12-24 cost more than I wanted to spend, so I did a quick search for pricing on the DA14 and found this. I thought the price was pretty good, so 10 mins later I picked this up too. This was totally unplanned. I'm still in shock over the fact that I bought a lens that wasn't even on my roadmap within 30 mins of "thinking" about it.

I normally have well thought out purchases, where the LBA is present but still under control. At this point I'm starting to think that it may have reached an acute stage. Of course, it could also be LBA withdrawal from my ban.

Either way, this LBA thing has absolutely no conscience.....

Tell me about it. I now own six 28mm lenses... and still like using the DA16-45.

see I think its all that pent up desire that you were keeping in check. Once released it has no choice but to destroy your savings and send you back down the dark side of LBA. I am sure at some point we all find a balance eventually that we are happy with.

For a brief while the last couple of weeks after selling off my M50/1.7, we were only a two-50 family (my A50/1.7, my wife's M50/2). Then just she started envying the better sharpness I was getting at f/2.0, so I ended up buying her another M50/1.7. So we're back up to three 50's and can officially qualify for LBA again...

You did the right thing. She was grateful, right?

Not as grateful as she'd be if her M50/1.7 were to arrive before the M100/2.8 I bought for myself a few days before.
