Lens Filters.

I am interested in picking up a Polarizing Filter for my lens, and thought that it would be just a simple matter of locating one which would fit the lens on my K10D. But it was brought to my attention to "make sure that I get a good one".

Now, I just recently saw that Circuit City had one for $19.95 - and I was just about set to purchase it. But the above advisory kept speaking to me. My question is this: how does one differentiate a good filter - and one that's not so good? Is there any way to really tell? Or could it be that the source was not really 'knowing' of what he spoke?

Thanks, SpecialK.

From what I read, it seems that using lens filters might not be a good thing, after all.

Polarisers are great in the snow or at the beach, cutting down reflections and glare. Good for nice blue skies too. They are fun and useful. I would say get one, but they are not the sort that you leave on your camera all the time.
