DA 55-300 vs 55-300 PLM

Well the PLM version of the 55-300 is a very quick focusing lens. The reason I did the screw drive DA HD 55-300 was the price (still thought I was on a budget then) and the fact it is a half stop slower at 300mm. Truth be told if you want to shoot crop at 300mm just get the DA * 300 and call it a day. It is an F4 perfect for usage with a teleconverter plus it is excellent optically too. I know it isn’t cheap or super small but if you want exceptional photos at 300mm it is the way to go.

I believe the quality of that 300 F4 would be amazing. The price and the size would be problematic for me. I have a hatch in a kayak and a carrier on the bicycle that accommadate the DA 55-300, and it just fits.. Sure would like to try it though..

No then you are right the 55-300 is just the ticket then based upon size. If you ever get the chance to get a DA 300 * - do, it is a cherished lens in my bag. Happy shooting!

to gm4life Yes the F4 300...you have me drooling...would be great around the property & in a bigger boat or out for a walk. Would be hard to put down.
