Sigma 28mm F1.8

i LIKE dis alot!

and to my surprise it is film compatible. ( aperture ring and everything)

the downside is the clumsy AF-MF switching procedure, you have to throw the switch on the body, AND you have to push the tube on the lens.

that, and the fact that the focus throw is super short, using MF is very difficult

another issue is that its large! (but not heavy)

but for the cost (i got it used off another member for 220!!) this is definetly an FA31 killer

all of the following images were done at wide open with the exception of the cue chalk, that was at 2.2

The AF, MF switching style is very annoying! Loved the speed and angle of view.

Yes, the Sigma 28mm f/1.8 is one of my favorite lenses. It's great! And I completely agree that the "clutch" AF/MF switch stinks. Here's a recent image I created with that lens:

Yes, the flare was intentional ... whether you like it or not.

@Gooshin

Those are great shots.. been looking for a prime lens to be my walkaround lens.. Seems like this could be it.. Although the DA 35mm Ltd would have been great but I still can't afford the price at the moment.. heheheh

Original Poster
again the only downside is its size

it uses a 77mm thread at the end! and is about 4 inches long, quite a canister of a lens.

plus, while i'm sure the DA35 is cool and all... its 2.8

those shots that you saw were all done at 1.8, iso 1000-1600 and 1/30-1/50 shutter speeds

if i was to shoot at 2.8 i would have to sacrafice in ISO or command my subjects to not move.

so, having 1.8 is good.

if anything i would go straight for the FA31. (or the FA35, altho i sold that lens, just wasnt feeling it)
