Pulled the trigger on a Pentax-M 50mm 1.7

This may not seem big at all but after a year of financial struggles I've finally gotten the free cash to buy myself a new little toy. Granted this one was especially cheap at 25 dollars so I'm really excited, and may be looking to round out my purchase with something else like a 75-150!

I've been really happy with my DA 40 XS for this range but sometimes the f 2.8 feels a bit slow. What can I really expect out of this lens other than the speed that my 40mm doesn't already offer? Just so I can get more excited of course.

For an all around great lens, this is my favorite. I also have a couple of copies, and the A version. I have no problem opening this one up to 1.7 and shooting all day long.

I've noticed quite a few people have multiple copies of this lens. Do you guys have a favorite?

In my experience the 40 XS is a better 'normal' lens on the K-01.
Because of the quick AF, even though it's optically slower, it just works better as a 'leave it on all the time' lens.

The faster manual 50mm lenses require more work, so a little more intent.
That said, they do a great job, and I have no issues with opening any of my Pentax 50s all the way up.

And honestly, I love having a $25 portrait lens... the field of view of the 50s on APS is really nice...
You'll pay a lot more to get a similar field of view on the K1...
