Great news. I think it's gonna happen
My friend told me he is up to vacation and I can order the items

I will buy through amazon.com or adorama in a day. (any suggestion here?)
Here is my shopping list, any last minute suggestions/opinions are welcome.

- Pentax K20D
- Pentax 21mm F/3.2 AL Limited
- Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Ultra Compact
- Pentax 70mm f/2.4 DA Limited
- Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP A/M 1:1 Macro
- Pentax AF 360 FGZ Flash
- Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce
- Gary Fong Puffer Pop Up Flash Diffuser
- Rechargeable Battery D-LI50
- 2x Sandisk 8GB EXTREME III SDHC SD Card

I plan to add 15mm Limited and a decent zoom/prime telephoto later -maybe after a year.
I considered the 55-300mm, it looks OK, but "6" blades holds me back.
It is not easy for me to buy/sell/switch the lenses here, so I must choose only a keeper.

Looks like an excellent and exciting lineup, congrats, you'll really enjoy!

you don't have any lenses faster than 2.8! (the DA70 is like a 2.8) ... i foresee more purchases in the future

I also see a DA*200 !?

That was not in your original planned list, was it?

You've got yourself a really nice collection of lenses, enjoy!

Thank you.

Yes, you're right. That was some last day decide.
The review on photozone.de had stalled me.
I was considering the 300mm, but my longest lens on list was 90mm, so there would be a big gap.

Somehow I ignored the test of 200mm and looked for user reviews and photos. It was pretty and it would be an appropriate length in the line.

So I went for it, I think that was some good choice.

Welcome to the Pentax community!

Excellent collection of glass. I'm still quite surprised the 50mm 1.4 didn't make it into the collection. You specifically mentioned low light in your first posts, and the FA 50 1.4 is better than the DA 40mm optically IMHO.

Still, you got some top notch gear. Use it well & ENJOY!

Thank you.

Yes, 50mm 1.4 is a must have; but I thought DA21-40-70 would be better as a line.
All digital and new tech. 40mm was cheap also.

Also 55mm 1.4 was on the roadmap and I thought I can buy it instead.

40 is also just a more generally useful focal length than 50 in my experience. 50 has its usefulness for portraits, but really, it's on the short side for that. Since you've got the 70, I would assume you'd normally be more inclined to use that for portraits. So I personally think you made the right choice.

Sure, you can always add a 50 later, but I've got both a 40 and a 50 and the 40 definitely gets the nod way more often. The 40 is in fact probably my most used lens (of eight); my 50 is probably my second-*least* used (the least used definitely being the M200/4). And it's not because my 50 is MF - so are two of my other most used lenses, the M28/2.8 and the M100/2.8. It's because f/2.8 *is* fast enough most of the time, and 40mm is just a more useful focal length.

He has a nice starter set but left room to grow :-) No fun in getting everything all at once.

What a sweet kit! Congrats and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I'd say add the 50/1.4 only because it's cheap and it gives you a couple of stops speed over all your other lenses.

I know the 40 may be more useful as a walk around, but f/1.4 sure is nice when you have to have it. Plus, it's cheap!
