My A50 1.4 and 40mm xs serve my needs perfectly fine at the moment, I'd hardly need anything so big and unwieldy for my armature photography.

I find the DA* 55mm f1.4 is plenty sharp between @1.4 -2.0 (perhaps i have a good copy), saving my money for a D-FA* 20-24mm prime

I think the price is what will hurt the sales of the DFA 50, Pentax buyers don't seem willing to pay big prices for equipment.
I met s guy in the park with a brand new K-1, DFA 15-30 and DFA 150-450. I think we can safely say, this man knows nothing about that type of Pentax user.

Not so sure about that. It is not a good idea to extrapolate too much from the opinions expressed on this forum. Very few people like to pay big prices and many will complain, but if they want something they buy it anyway. And you could say the same about Nikon or Canon users. Most (the vast majority) do not buy expensive gear, but some do.

I have a K-1, the DFA 24-70 and the DFA 150-450. Not an inexpensive purchase. I also own and use, and perhaps talk far more about a whole shelf full of old Takumars and film era K-mount lenses. They are interesting and fun. But they do not stop me from buying a new expensive lens if I need / want it.
