well I'm done having just added an " experienced " MIJ black SMC Pentax- FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited to my collection

SMC Pentax-DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited

SMC Pentax-DA 21mm F3.2 Limited

SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited

SMC Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 Limited

SMC Pentax-FA 43mm F1.9 Limited, MIJ

SMC Pentax-DA 70mm F2.4 Limited

SMC Pentax-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited, MIJ

all black

I have no interest in the HD Limiteds or the zoom Limited or the silver versions
Congratulations on the FA31, Allen. That's a fine collection of Limited lenses you own

Although I'm shooting APS-C for K-mount, the FA31 is one of the few lenses I still lust after. I have the HD FA35 f/2 and Sigma's 30mm f/1.4 Art, both of which are really excellent, so it's not like I don't have that approximate field of view adequately covered. Even so, I occasionally finding myself considering the FA31 - not instead of the lenses I already own, but in addition to, because... well... "Limited"

For me the fa31 isn't that much more interesting than the 35 F2 on crop. It is great but the smc fa 35 is pretty close. The real shine comes on full frame... .

thank you

my wife has been very nice to me

of course, the fact that I work hard to find " experienced " lenses at good prices helps

I had both the fa31 and the da35 macro. The 31 was very nice, though probably not fully utilized on my K3ii’s crop sensor. On the other hand, the 35 rapidly became a favorite. Lovely rendering and a joy to use. Many of my favorite photos came from that lens.

I don't doubt the quality of the 31 Ltd but, in addition to its higher cost (and similarly for the other FA Ltds) and being an APS-C user, I went for the DA Ltds as I like the concept of that set - compact, light-weight, superb build and image quality. I also have the 20-40 WR but, except when the weather forecast is problematic, I still prefer to take out two or three of the DA primes - the 35 on the camera and usually the 21 and 70 in a pocket. The HD 35 Ltd is the favourite of all my lenses.

and remember the cheap way to enjoy the FA Limiteds on a full frame sensor might be with a Pentax SLR

I’ve owned the HD 15, DA 21, DA 40 and HD 20-40. After buying the 20-40, I sold the 21. The zoom at 20mm made the 21mm redundant. I almost never touch the tiny 40mm, but its nit worth selling with the low prices they bring used. The HD 77 intrigues me, however, the performance of my HD55-300 PLM in the 70-80mm focal length range would be hard to improve on enough to justify the 77.

I only own the 77 so far*, but it certainly lives up to the reputation. I think photos I've taken with it get significantly better feedback than any of my other lenses - people just love the rendering.

*I know, I know, it's a matter of time...

I have a silver 77, and my wife calls it our magic lens. I never get to use it because she keeps it hidden away with her camera kit.

It is absolutely glorious. I have a Sigma 85mm f1.4 but the Limited has pixie dust and is small. I'm more likely to put it into my backpack when walking around.

reminds me of a commercial:

" there is always room for [ limited ( s ) ] "

any of the " limiteds " is easily carried for when you want to use one

Yeah, you can carry three or so for the bulk/weight of a standard f2.8 zoom, and they'll be sharper with a wider aperture.
