I too have both. They are both excellent in their own way. But I currently only shoot crop.
I only have a crop camera also, but I seem to like getting lenses and I have nothing between 70 and 90 in primes..
I have found the 18 - 135 quite good, but I am a jpeg shooter.
Post processing and I make a complete mess of a picture.

Rapport was a challenge that evening, Dave, because we hadn't met before and she's Russian.

But it happened, you can see that in the pic. I find for me, the keepers occur in the final thirty minutes because model and photographer are now in tune. Avedon used to begin sessions shooting without film in his camera, unbeknownst to his subject, to get their fake expressions over and done with.

So, the interaction is *far* more important than the gear. 70 or 77? How would that matter here? The 70 has newer coatings which help a bit with the sun low and almost in the frame, but that's about it.
Hi Clackers

I am being flippant as usual.
I do enjoy your portrait work.

Sure. But the point is, it can be *your* portrait work. You can replicate this setup, as I have from others. Get the subject to cross their ankles, it's a pose found in boudoir.

Photography is about the technique, which includes social skills.

There are more sheep and cows than people around here ........ the beach is an hour away.
I have never delved into portrait shooting

C'mon, Dave, I've been to the Clare valley ... where there are pubs, festivals, towns, businesses with owners who need publicity shots, sports teams, wineries, schools, local musicians or artists ... there are people to take pictures of.

Hi Cllackers

Being a bit self conscious does not help.
I'll have to practice with sheep , bottles and pictures.

I have the 43mm and the 77m and for me they both live up to expectations. However, I am not using the 77mm, which does suffer from CA, that often but the 43mm produces distinctly sharp images.
