It is absolutely glorious. the Limited has pixie dust and is small.
I appreciate when a post shows, not tells. Great lighting doesn't hurt either.

Ooops... my main "issue" with the 77 is that most of the photos I like from it are friends/family and I'm not posting those images on the internet
To compensate, here's the fluffball the day I got the lens. His face clearly says "what, another one? Fine, I'll pose" .

I have a silver 77, and my wife calls it our magic lens. I never get to use it because she keeps it hidden away with her camera kit.
sounds like you need another

Actually I have been thinking about that. Now that I have invested about enough to buy a new car (of smaller size and cheaper brand) in medium format cameras and lenses, perhaps I could move to replicating those lenses that seem to have been appropriated more or less permanently from my collection. Most of the lenses she returns promptly after using them, but she just turns a deaf ear to any of my inquiries regarding the 77.

Yeah, it's honestly a vertical fluorescent tube on the bridge wall she's leaning against - you can actually see it in her eye.

Shooting in a city at nighttime can give opportunities to do studio-like shots.

I am concerned and confused over a zoom being a " limited " which, of course, were ( are ) all prime lenses otherwise

as far as WR

if it is bad enough to need it, I'm not out there taking photos

just quirky I guess

Sure. Having said, that, I've got a silver 20-40 and it's a great lens. If the weather's wet I tend to use it rather than the DA21.

Some people like walking around in the rain and taking photos! It is fun.

I think it takes as much skill to see available ambient light and to exploit it as it does to set up lighting in a studio. They are different skills but ultimately it takes a good eye to make either work well. Kudos!

Dave, I have both. As you can see, on the K-1 the DA70 Ltd *can* do much of what the 77 does for the price. You'd need to shoot differently (eg at f1.8) to make a difference. I fill in here with the Pentax 540 flash in HSS.

I too have both. They are both excellent in their own way. But I currently only shoot crop.

Rapport was a challenge that evening, Dave, because we hadn't met before and she's Russian.

But it happened, you can see that in the pic. I find for me, the keepers occur in the final thirty minutes because model and photographer are now in tune. Avedon used to begin sessions shooting without film in his camera, unbeknownst to his subject, to get their fake expressions over and done with.

So, the interaction is *far* more important than the gear. 70 or 77? How would that matter here? The 70 has newer coatings which help a bit with the sun low and almost in the frame, but that's about it.
