SMC Pentax-D FA 50mm F2.8 Macro

I have a loose focusing ring. The lens seems to focus fine but the ring isn't tight and moves past infinity. Seems typical for this lens? Is it worth being repaired or does it even matter? Thanks

Going past infinity is likely normal, but does the clamp work? If not perhaps that hardware is damaged and causing the issue.

The clamp works somewhat but not really. The ring basically goes all the way around. I guess my main concern is if this is just a cosmetic issue....

I had this lens for a few years until I sold it and got the DFA 100 Macro WR. The focus ring has soft stops at both infinity and closest focus. You feel a small bit of resistance indicating focus limit is reached but you can keep turning the focus ring, as opposed to a hard stop where you cannot turn it further. I never used the clamp on mine so I do not know what is normal with it. It is a great lens, even though I really needed 100 mm I regret selling mine. I may be looking for one when the funds permit.
