Yeah, it's a bit short for some usages - birding, especially.
OTOH, longer OEM options would be too expensive for me.

They are apparently satisfied with the existing Pentax prime line-up and perhaps see no reason to take a wishlist survey when they have no such list.

Steve

(note: I have plenty of lenses and only took the survey to express my interest in adding some traditional focal lengths at moderate prices to the current FF lineup.)

Interesting results. There appears to be a large, stated preference for compact/small build yet the specific lenses at the top of the list are all mostly big,
fast glass. Of particular note to me is that a 20/1.8, 20/2.0 & 20/2.8 all have higher favor than a 20/4, (my personal wish). I'm at a bit of a loss here.
Surely those who desire small and compact lenses realize a 20/4 is going to be much smaller and more compact than a 20/1.8?

Yes, there seem to be a number of not completely thought through fantasy wishes in there with all the supersharp fast lenses that shall be small and light.

While only 5 people seem to be willing to pay for long fast tele lenses, at 8 demand it.

The 50* is coming. The 85* in route. But I think we need some ligth primes (perhaps a 24 and a 135) F 2 or F2.8

Same. I took the survey to express my interest in a new, fast 135mm lens. Other than this, I really don't need anything else. If/when they do release a 135 it will need to be fast, large, and heavy. If it's not, I'll reach for the FA* 80-200 instead.

The ratio of my primes to zooms is a lot higher than 4:1 too. The few zooms I have are not exactly replaceable by primes, such as the 250-600.

One other thing I would have liked to see on the survey would have been an option to choose one feature we have no interest in. I just can't understand why others like silent focusing so much. I know that's the future, as almost all new lenses have this, but I'd rather have a nice, top-of-the-line lens with the traditional screw-driven focus. It's reliable and allows more room for optics instead of having to design a focus assembly inside the lens. In other words, I see no advantage to silent-focusing lenses. But then again my car is simple because the more features, the more things there are to break.

The A20/2.8 is a compact lens, as is the K20/4. The K135/2.5 is my no means massive. The K200/2.5 is very front heavy. I put a realistic expenditure limit and opted for smaller, slower, Limited lenses vs. massive, fast, * lenses - even f/4 FF zooms.

There is a strong desire from some users on this site to have the specs of M43 mirrorless ultra-wides available for K-mount, not realizing that wide angles with a mirror box must be retro-focus design and are more difficult to implement with fast apertures when things get short.

Given that Ricoh/Pentax does not monitor this forum, it is unlikely that the survey results will influence decision-makers in Japan. In addition, Ricoh/Pentax is quite capable of doing market research that includes sensitivity analysis (the income potential at a particular price point in target markets). If the sales projections are not there due to low penetration or impoverished (cheapskate) buyers, no amount of fan demand is going to bring a product to market.
