Pentax prime lens wishlist survey 2018

Since the last time was quite long ago and everybody seems to be talking about lens wishlists, here I created a little inofficial survey that helps collect peoples view:
https://www.murvey.com/s?5a6c5e956987a5df048fa8db

This is only about primes, so if you don't care about primes go look elsewhere.

Intention is to collect as many peoples view as possible, since forums threads tend to be dominated by a loud minority.

Survey completed. Time for some more FA Limiteds!

Nice!
It's missing the middle road though, a compromise between fast/heavy/expensive and /slower/light/affordable. Which is exactly what I would choose, given the opportunity.
(I'm more than willing to compromise on fast apertures, but I want optical excellence wide open - no, ultra compact designs aren't)

I consider the Limiteds to be middle road. Faster aperture than standard lenses, but not quite as fast or heavy as the * lenses.

But the FA Limiteds are too old, and the DA Limiteds are optimized for compactness.

True, they are optimized for size, but they are also top quality optics, much better than standard consumer lenses and they tend to be faster. I like the smaller size, the other option is to have lenses the size of the Sigma Art line. Count me out.

Yet there's another option, an intermediary one: lenses larger than the Limiteds, smaller than Sigma Arts, well built, good rendition and sharp wide open, WR and fast, silent, in-lens AF motors.
The DA 70mm and DA 35mm, those are excellent; perhaps adapting such optics for FF would not increase their size too much (add a bit more for an in-lens motor). A 21mm-ish FF lens, though...

I would love to see a FF lens from 20-24mm. I would give up a little bit of size for optics and 2.8 aperture.

Done!

So far I'm the only person who's selected a 400/5.6 (although I'd prefer f/4.8).

Wow , so much love for the 85 1.4, and so many K-1 shooters. That's a very heavily skewed response so far.

Interesting. I tried to be consistent in all anwers (sacrifice some speed for smaller size, Limited quality, wide and medium tele - not 85mm) and guessed at a maximum price. Sometime I was in the +85% group and sometimes I was in the 5% group answering essentially the same questions (except focal length).

Thanks for participating. I find it quite interesting to see which items get the most love. Not necessarily all as I expected.

That's the beauty of polls. You think one way, lots of other people think some other way. They are always enlightening.

I voted for 500mm f4 (even I'd be more glad for f/4.5), 300mm f2.8 and 400 mm f2.8. I guess each of them could do more less the same good job.

500mm f/4 * 1.4x TC -> 700mm f/5.6
300mm f/2.8 * 2x TC -> 600mm f/5.6
400mm f/2.8 * 1.7x TC -> 680mm f/4.75

Anyway, I'm surprised that only few guys voted for a fast long telephoto lens. Are we such a minority between Pentax users?
