Seems like people / portrait focal lengths from 50 to 135mm get the most likes.

Affordable vs. top quality? The two are not mutually exclusive.

FWIW, my ratio of zooms-to-primes is more like 1:10 and I only own three cropped-sensor lenses.

I have to agree. Exactly this was my reason why to buy my first Pentax camera. Good quality for affordable price. I.e. very good price/performance ratio.

500mm f/4 * 1.4x TC -> 700mm f/5.6
300mm f/2.8 * 2x TC -> 600mm f/5.6
400mm f/2.8 * 1.7x TC -> 680mm f/4.75

Anyway, I'm surprised that only few guys voted for a fast long telephoto lens. Are we such a minority between Pentax users?
I suppose that means most folks were smart enough to avoid Pentax if they are "serious" wildlife photographers

Well, if you decrease the cost you have to make some compromises...

It’s a good survey...

There are some things it doesn’t capture (is the lack of long lenses due to a preference for zooms in those FL, for example), but it’s focused...

It did make me realize I’m more interested in * zooms than I am primes...

Not always true. It could also mean that your company is more effective (less overhead costs) and can generate profit even with reduced margin.

I like lighter f4.0 zoom lenses. I chose following primes.
400mm f5.6
14mm f4

Yes, you're right about effectiveness being a factor - but in Pentax' case that must compensate for the much lower volumes anyway. I'm amazed how Pentax can make competitively priced gear.

Anyway, I think the most popular choice being "up to 1500 euro" (rather than "up to 600") is encouraging.
And... sorry, I didn't vote for any long lens - my D FA 150-450 will have to do.

This! I am heavily laden with primes. Guess that means I can be picky with my zooms!

I want to plan ahead for a hopeful move to FF one day, and I figure that with K1 level ISO performance I really don't need anything wider than F2.8 ....so It was the following on my wish list ..... 20mm F2.8, 135mmF2.8 .....200mm F4. Cost and reasonable size/weight being higher considerations over big and heavy and expensive.

I realised later that I have subconsciously built this wish list around my existing suitable FF lenses, something I'm sure many of us do when dreaming. ....

So, it would give me ; 14m F2.8, (20mm F2.8), D FA28-105 zoom, A28 F2.8, A50 F1.7, (135mm F2.8), M75-150 F4.0, (200mm F2), Tamron 70-300 zoom.

The only thing stopping me with the 150-450, is it's only 300 equivalent APS-c. and 300 APS-c is rarely enough for me.

When I think about it, The DFA 15-30 2.8 will give me 15, 18, 20, 24, 28 and 30 on both FF and APS_c. How is a 2k CAD not a great deal?
That's the other thing stopping me from getting the 150-450, I probably want the 15-30 more.

With 75 votes om 60% are K-1 users. Where are all the APS_c shooters?
