Depending on your budget you should definitely check out the 43ltd as well. If you dont need close focus capabilities (and you like its rendering) then it eliminates the craving for all the lenses between 35-50. (so far released)

I was just about to post this same thought. One of my favorite lenses, both on crop and FF.

The 43 is going to be a lot more pricy than the 35 Macro unless there is a major difference in Japanese pricing. He is looking at well under 400.00 US for any of his possible choices.

The 40xs is fun and nice but at that price structure, (new) I would go for the 40 Ltd instead of the XS since there is little price difference new.

Yep, but the DA 35 F2.8 Macro Limited is close, at least here looking at B&H, so figured should toss it out there since it's such a neat lens.

I was going to suggest you try the FA 35.
I had a look at that one but I would still lean towards the DA 35 Limited if I were spending the type of money that the FA 35 is asking for (36,620 yen.)

Looking for a bit of fun? Go with the 10-17mm. The lenses you are looking at are somewhere between sharp and not sharp enough. No fun in that.
That's a bit too 'fishy' for me, but something I might consider for the future.

For a walk-around versatile "fun" lens with high quality rendering, and high build quality, it is hard to beat the DA 21mm Limited.
I think if I was going wide-angle I'd pay a bit more and go for the DA 15 limited (40,500 yen versus 48,200 yen.)

Um... 74,800 yen... I like having two kidneys.

Just FYI, I went to Yodobashi Camera West yesterday and... I tripped and accidentally bought both the DA 35 and DA 50. I had some 'Yodo-points' so thought 'what the heck'. I could have bought the DA 35 Macro Limited for a little more but I certainly wouldn't abuse it as much as I should do the plastic DA 35 and two lenses will give me a bit more flexibility.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions.

For wideangle APS-C fun, the DA15 remains a solid option. I own and love the smc DA15. Have lost track of how many keepers it has given me. Fishy can be serious fun, too, as the inexpensive and unique DA10-17 attests.

Whatever you may pick up in the future, enjoy what you have and happy shooting, Antony!
