If only the 20-40ltd was slightly more like a 20-50mm and F2.8 and not 2.8-4 I would be on top of the list as it is like have multiple prime lenses in one and would the economical way to go for sure.
Thank you for the suggestion.
When shooting a modern Pentax the f/4 is not really much of a factor unless you are going to shoot very low light. Since the images still have that Limited "pixie Dust Look," it really becomes less important. With SR added, it is even less important. Even though I seem to be carrying my primes more often than my 20-40, it is still a great choice when the weather stinks, (often,) and when I don't want to schlep my 3 pound zoom around. They are a pretty good deal if you are looking used, and if you hate it you aren't going to lose much, (if anything,) by reselling it.

Since you ruled out a da 40 can you explain why? It may help narrow our recommendations.

I have found this lens for sale locally: Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM at a decent price.

Edit: the seller was not willing to come down more on the price

Thank God I like zoom lenses.

Is it F/1.1.4 or F/1.4 the lens you got?

f1.1.4 will be a nice lens.

Yeah I know I read you recent description of the lens you purchased and was confused as to wether you purchased an F/1.4 or and F/4 so I started to ask you and whilst asking I was also searching your lens and found it was a f/1.4. its just that extra 1. can mean a hell of a lot. F/1.1.4........ its 1 to 4 or 1 to 1.4.

also depends upon which camera body, what you are hoping to use the prime for, budget range, etc....
Pepperberry,
