lovely comparison, not much between them, but if I had to have one it would be Zeiss

Hi Tran, good conversion job ! Does your lens still have the ninja star aperture? Your #1 is not at f/1.4 but it's nice nevertheless.

You might consider posting some more in this thread, https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/64271-impossible-lens-club.html

Here's another Contax 50/1.4 (serial 59xxxx) on K100D. Some softglow and curves in gimp

I have the Carl Zeiss 180mm f/2.8 in M42 mount that I am not sure to keep or not. My copy has a Pentacon 6 to M42 adapter. The lens is a beauty and it has a large front hood that echoes the shutter noise very uniquely.

It has its own charms with very decent boken and fast speed. Some flare perhaps as my copy is without MC wording but the large lens hood seem to do its job. Sharpness is decent though I have user errors on test shots due to lost of trap focus The one gripe I have is on its weight of 3.5 lb. The size is still reasonable for hand-hold. I have been thinking of trimming not-frequnelty-used manual lens in the range of 70 to 200mm and replace it with either Sigma 70-2100mm f/2.8 or Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. Should I keep the Zeiss? .

Hello Hin,
as you know I got that same big Zebra lens, and I can't tell if it would be worth keeping.
I will keep mine cause I do not have any other 200-ish lens which does work so well
at f/2.8 (sharpness and bokeh). If you really do not need the depth of field or the one
stop extra, then there is a lot of good 200-ish f/4 lenses out there. Beware that when
selling this lens the lens itself could be worth the same as the adapter P6>M42
(meaning the adapter is valued quite high).

I've just begun to shoot digital after shooting with a P67ii. I have a K20D with a Nokton. I love the lens and am intrigued by the Zeiss lenses. I've alway just shot for fun, but now I have the opportunity to get some paying gigs. If I get enough, I'm getting some Zeiss lenses. Thanks for this really great thread.

Fourmix, last one is great I think and makes me shiver in anticipation of the winter :-( Please post this excellent photo in the hat club also.
Bokeh on this one looks like stopped down to f/2 or something, looks quite good. I've been tempted to get the same lens in the old ninja star
version but expect the bokeh to go AWOL in such a situation.

Carl Zeiss Contax AE Distagon T* 28/2.8 ISO800 f/2.8(?) on K100D - this lens definitely wants a small format camera

Keep 'em coming, Georg (the other)

Georg, you know the LBA problems that I ran into. I have way too many good lenses that I keep dreaming about having time to use them. The Zeiss is the finest beauty in terms of history for me. It is a the most cult classic and one of the most searched on my Tech Corner blog lenses. Not that I make money off from the searches, may 5 cents in a month. Is it alright to sell it straight for the price that I paid for it $250 with no fee on paypal? I need help in unloading lens to cut my guilt and sanity in LBA/CBA.

The most critical thing that pull me off is the best cosmetic that I have not seen in a copy. This is my 2nd copy and I don't miss my 1st copy due to the good cosmetic in my 2nd copy. It is a charmer when I manage to carry around to impress people. All photo conscious nuts ask me about the lens, even the Canon and coffee shop cashier ask me about my lens.

Thanks,
Hin

It's sad that the Zeiss thread dried up...

Have the Distagon 21/2.8 ZK, the Distagon 35/2 ZK and the Makro Planar 100/2 ZK and love every bit of them... Colors, bokeh, sharpness and carachter...So much I have sold most of my AF-lenses.

Would love to see that there are more Zeiss lovers in the Pentax world!

(All pictures are *untouched* jpg's straight out of my K10D... No PP at all)

Got the Zk 85mm/1.4 Planar, with a beautiful dreamy effect wide open (still very sharp in the area in focus), and bitingly sharp stopped down

(images presented here slightly disappointing, suspect its because of the compression from photobucket)

I am hooked

Because I dropped my FA 50, I had to (again, had to) buy another 50 and of course I had to buy 50/1.4.

I've had it for just 2 days, and I am hooked. Absolutely fantastic.
